Better Rest

During festive seasons, we often enjoy catching up with family and friends, but this can come at the expense of our rest—especially when we sleep later than usual or get insufficient sleep. To improve sleep quality, it’s important to regulate your sleep cycle by going to bed and waking up at the same time every day, and ensuring you get enough rest: adults should aim for 7–8 hours, teenagers (13–18 years old) 8–10 hours, and children (6–12 years old) 9–12 hours. It also helps to avoid caffeine, alcohol, and devices that emit blue light 1–3 hours before bedtime, and to skip heavy exercise close to bedtime, allowing your body to wind down more effectively.

Stress Management

Returning to work after a long holiday can be stressful, especially after the packed schedules during festive celebrations. To cope with stress, try incorporating regular physical activity such as brisk walking or yoga, maintain a proper sleep routine with sufficient rest, and eat healthy, balanced meals at regular intervals. It’s also helpful to avoid excessive caffeine and to reach out to friends and family for support, fostering positive ways to manage the transition back to work.

Increasing physical activity, such as taking a walk after meals or enjoying group activities like pickleball, can help balance blood sugar.
